so i've been working on this since last friday (or a few weeks actually), and just now my lazy ass finally got it done. i think it's because i'm putting off laundry and cleaning my closet. but okay.. enough babbling, shut up and post.

i never did a whole review thing on my taiwan trip, i guess i forgot because i had all those mini posts while i was there. i took like 600 or so pictures, but they're hidden, so if you want to see them - let me know. and if i like you, then maybe you'll get to see them :P hah. jk i just put a password on it so that freaky people wouldn't see it - my sister's idea. but it's chill.. here are a few - hope it's okay.

my cousins, my grandma toasting to my sister & the "kids" table, all of my grandma's kids - minus 2 cousins :(

this was from our "family dinner" at the howard plaza hotel. my grandma was so happy that so many kids could be back.. there was a lot of "family dinners." but it was a good time, and lots of food, of course. my dad and i were walking because he said it was a few blocks. after walking for 15 minutes he decided it was too far and we hailed a taxi and rode in it for like 20 more minutes (with traffic). my dad has no sense of "blockage."

my cousin and aunt, the centerpieces at the engagement, the happy couple :)

so yea.. there was an engagement ceremony two days before the wedding. that comes from the more traditional style. the bride is introduced to the groom's family, and it's a ceremony for the bride's family, for when like in olden days the bride's family couldn't attend the wedding. they exchange rings here and i think there's present giving and all that. it was nice. the ceremony, and then lunch.

wedding pictures!! gettin ready, the bridal party, our family (both sides), the hotel where the wedding was at, the room setup for the wedding, yummy wedding dessert!

it was way fun and way pretty. wedding day was an all day event - in the morning the groom & groomsmen came over to "our house" (which was a hotel because we don't have a house there - at least not large enough to fit all those people!) and the bridesmaids made them "play games" to see the bride, and then we did a thing with my parents (and my mom was kind of bawling.. ack.. made everyone else cry!) and then we all went over to jeff's house to do the same, taking lots of pictures all along the way. crazyness there was paparazzi all over the place, as my sister exited the hotel to get in the car.. it was like when you see those shows and the people are leaving the club and people stick cameras in your face to get you. it was wild. we got to rest in between while my sister had to go do some other junk. plus she couldn't take off her wedding dress all day because she was only allowed to wear it once, so it was bad luck to take it off because that's considered wearing it twice (when she puts it back on). crazy. the hotel was way nice.. but my sister didn't get the presidential suite because they had to give it to gray davis. hah. and the wedding room was BEAUTIFUL. i seriously started hyperventilating right before we were supposed to walk in because i hadn't seen the whole room set up and it looked so drastically different from rehearsal. it seemed so big and huge and i had to kneel and catch my breath real quick, my heart was beating so fast. and it caused my sister to cry too.. aww..

SIGHTSEEING!!

taiwan flag in the pretty blue sky, the pretty pretty ceiling of taipei city hall, taipei 101 - the newest tallest bldg in taipei. it's not completely done yet, but there is 4 levels of shopping! yay!, night club and office buildings. soon there will be a observatory deck where you can go to the top.. that'll be awesome. i went to the toy store and saw harry potter stuff.. it was wicked... i should have bought that giant lego harry. beth would be so jealous. haha. me among the giant chess pieces on the street outside taipei 101 (just like harry potter!), after the wedding everyone got to go play- eating shaved ice at shi-lin night market, riding the mass rapid transit (subway), me and olivia at shilin, yuen-ling street market - purses galore!! :)

yay for sightseeing, glad i got most of it in before the typhoon hit. the amount of time i was there was a good time.. enough for business and pleasure :) i think if i had more time i wouldn't have been able to come home because my luggages would be too overstuffed :P but i think by that time i was ready to come home, getting out of the weather, plus it's hard to be somewhere for a long time and be so helpless. but it was way fun, no doubt.

my taiwan trip would not be complete without some cloudy pictures :) - the sky after the storm.. so pretty. the view from the plane, somewhere over the pacific.

okay.. some fun pictures from back in lovely california :)

gary hall jr. and his dad after he won the 50 free oly trial :) didn't want to pay for the picture.. ghetto.... :P

fun birthday pictures!! pre-birthday celebrations for beth @ disneyland - yay!, sakura's dancing, fireworks :) and the castle (teeny tiny blue thing :P), beth looking cute, my dessert at the dinner place for beth's bday, karaoke @ 501, me and nicole.

for beth's bday nicole, sakura and i took her to disneyland and got her a pass.. fun for a whole year!! whoo hoo. the next day we all met up in torrance at a korean bbq place for yummerific food and dessert and then karaoke-ing at 501. afterwards we drove down to hermosa for an hour or so of last minute celebrating, drinking, dancing, getting kissed on cheeks by boys (that was just beth). :) highlights include tons of fun @ disneyland of course, they brought back the mark twain for the end of fantasmic!, beth (former disneyland hater):"how can anyone hate disneyland?!", sakura eating all the m&m's off the cookie cake, cooking our own food and desserts, me sucking at karaoke, nicole and beth drinking 40's in my car, beth flashing everyone on the pier, and... other stuff i can't remember. i'm tired.. and this blog was entirely way too long and overdue. sorry.. i suck.

i'll update the last few days.. before i have to play catch up again. blech. this week was just a lot of work. nissan, gap, hockey.. blah blah blah. my uncle (mom's brother) and his family came in this week, and a family friend (new aunt) and her new hubby came as well. our house is packed with people - sleepin on the floor, on the couch.. but it's fun. more exciting, there's stuff to do. but then i feel bad when i have to go do other stuff.. boo. oh well. i might go on a trip with them next week to norcal.. if i can get off work. that could be fun. i hope :P friday i did some editing for a video to show at joan's wedding, and then went to go meet nicole at disneyland for some bonding and piano man watching. it was fun even though i was only at disneyland for like 1 hour.. haha that's what annual passes are for! afterwards we went to denny's and i got my "princess" meal complete with pink ranch sauce and "a cinderella story" poster. yay.. chad michael murray, i love you :P saturday was more editing, family lunch, working at the gap and then sakura came over that night so i could do her calendar and we watched "confessions of a teenage drama queen." it was pretty bad.. there were some okay parts, but it wasn't that great. and now that i think of it, it's almost just like mean girls, but suckier. girl comes to new city/school, wants to be cool, clashes with the popular pretty girl, befriends the outcast, and in the end overcomes. blahbity blah blah. there i just saved you the rental price. today i worked at 5am (ack!) and the gap doing women's new flow. the hours are sucky, but it's okay.. i like being there when the stores not open and rebuilding walls, putting out new merchandise, dressing mannequins, creating displays :) i'm such a dork. i did women's section one.. go ooh and ahh :) then i went to hockey - work work work.. my aunt and uncle think i'm "hard worker" little do they know is that i work so many jobs to make up for my lameness and un-hard-workingness. :P but today was fun, someone that i thought didn't really like me was nicer to me today, there weren't too many fight, the little kids are cute like always. came home, fell asleep but got back in time to go back to hockey, but to watch some friends play tonight. it was a good time, except they lost (to the first place team) :( in sudden death overtime nonetheless, but they were up in the beginning so that sucks. it was also a scrappy game, and some off calls, so that sucks too. i hate sudden death, it's like everything else is washed before that point and it's so gut wrenching! but i guess i should be glad i wasn't bored :P

okay.. i'm done.. i should go clean my room. or do laundry.. i've been meaning to do it forever.. like a week or two. i semi-cleaned/organized my room, but of course messed it all up again. i have very little floor space to begin with, and now it's just non-existant. i should take a picture and show you all just what a slobby-bobby i am. hahahh.. maybe...

ps.. i'm watching my video of jason mraz @ hotel cafe from way long ago.. it's SOO good :) such good times, such nostalgia, intimate settings, $5 fee, really really good shows and love always. *sigh* plus the part where annie comes up for the say anything game is priceless. loves it.

pps. my sister is a dork
*while watching news of lance armstrong's "tour de force"
joan: do you think he's really good or do you think people just let him win because they feel sorry for him?
jean: huh?... i think he's really that good. *pause* why would people feel sorry for him?
joan: because he had to overcome cancer.

hahahhahah. say what?

so i was working on a blog with pictures and lots of good stuff, but it takes awhile, because i'm slow.. but here's to three people who aren't :)

nicole, manny and pete are doing the blog-a-thon today!! yup.. 24 hours of straight blogging.. they're troopers. but it's all for a good cause, the Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

good times.

so i think everyone should do a few things..
1)visit my weblog brings all the boys to the yard :) great name huh?
2)visit all of their sites too - there's some good stuff on there
3)visit the blog-a-thon site and sponsor them!! (register, then click on sponsor a blog, then find their blog - under pete holiday's name, and give money. help the kids)
4)continue to read for 24 hours

yay!!

okay.. so this post is a TOTAL act of desperation.  but does anyone want to buy my tickets to opening night of the FINA men's water polo tourney.  it will be really good water polo - the top 6 men's teams in the world!  in a newly constructed above ground pool in long beach (where the swimming olympic trials were held).. it's pretty neat.  me and keri can't go tonight and i don't want to waste these tickets ...  website

boys- good action sports!
girls- hot half nakey men

buy them.. comment if you want them.  please comment. :P

ps. if you care, (i'm sure you don't), gary hall jr. not only made it to the olympics for the 50 free but beat jon lezak.  nice.  can't wait for the replay broadcast on NBC, july 18, 10am (pst) :)
happy birthday beth!!

wow.. so many july birthdays. i gotta get to bed.. but we just came back from disneyland to celebrate beth turning 24! :) the celebration of her actual birthday was in the parking structure... exciting huh? :) we have made beth "join the cult" as "non-believers" are saying... but really.. disneyland is awesome. love it.

more blogging and pictures later

9 minutes of work left.. and then i get to go home! yay! i am DEAD tired.. but i can't take a nap because if i do then it'll pro-long the jet laggyness. yea.. wasn't i supposed to be over that already? umm.. i thought so.. but i went to bed at 6am this morning. i feel like crying :P yea.. i need to stop taking mid-afternoon naps. but the sucky part is that i have hockey tonight.. so i have to work until like 12:30am. so i feel like i should take a nap. i'll probably just get like a grande from starbucks or something. ack. going to bed as soon as i get home tonight.. i swear!

but it's funny because as i look down the row of computers i see 3 guys playing games and one guy shopping online. and you all thought that it was just me that didn't do any work :P

tv was fun yesterday.. although it was a little sad because the girl that i "sequestered" for who wants to marry my dad got booted last night :( left at the church steps in a wedding dress. how sad huh? it was so dumb too because the dad feigned dissapointment in his interview saying that he had chemistry with her from day one, when the week before he told his daughters that he didn't feel it with her. what a dork.

but i was excited about for love or money because rachel won. yay! i liked her.. i don't know why. i didn't really even watch the first part of this season until the last episode, and i wanted the other girl to win. but that other girl andrea was a snotty nosed brat. she was so smug and smarmy.. blech. so i'm glad it ended how i wanted it to. haha

last night i was really frustrated with a lot of things, which probably added to my staying up-ness.. but i guess they're a little bit better now. spent a lot of time doing some job stuff.. hopefully it will pay off. but i need to not get my hopes up, because it just usually always ends in dissapointment :( i know that it's not just going to come immediately to me, and i have to work hard to get what i want.. and also when the time/situation is right.. it'll happen. i just have to believe.. right? patience is virtue? or some other crap like that.

this week looks exciting though - hopefully i'm not too cranky for it. work tonight, wedding reception tasting tomorrow, disneyland thursday, beth's birthday friday (yay!) and then world water polo tourney this weekend. yay!! :) hopefully my mom doesn't get too mad about me going out too much (yea.. shut up.. i know how old i am) - i'll have to squeeze it cleaning my room in there somewhere :P

on a sad note.. gary hall jr didn't qualify for the 100 free :( he got beat out by eight one hundreths of a second. ugh. he's gonna swim in the relay, but it's not the same you know? it's the 50 free finals tonight.. i'm not going. i'm gonna be "responsible" and go to work :P also i don't know if i could handle the dissapointment if he doesn't make it again.. although it's not gonna happen right? :P he's going to make it.. he will. plus tickets are probably either sold out or $75 (yikes!) i hope he wins though :) and beats that punk ass jason lezak. haha :P i was seriously so sad on sunday when i watched it.. you would think i knew him or something. no.. i'm just retarded. :P

happy birthday to my daddy! :)

yay... good times. today is get over jet lag day. not just for me, but for my sister.. except, she's pretty conked out.. but she hadn't slept for 36 hours. so she's taking a "nap". we have to go to dinner for my dad's birthday though.. hopefully she doesn't sleep through that. hahaha.. one time when i was in new york and i was SUPER jet lagged i slept through a family dinner. there's tons of pictures of everyone, but you can only see the top of my head slunken down in the chair :P

anyways.. i gotta come back later and apply to these two jobs. one i'm kind of iffy about, and the other.. is good. i dunno.. for some reason i get all scared when it comes to the idea of a "real job" somehow having my variety in my 3 fake jobs pleases me. i don't know why.. maybe because i'm crazy? :P but anyways.. i go back to the temp chain gang on monday. they called me on friday to make sure i was coming... they must really miss me. haha.. right. and today i went to the "find your perfect fit" gap meeting and then scorekept for youth hockey. i love little kids playing hockey.. they're the cutest. my favorite so far is this kid named quintin with "quinny" on his jersey. i'm gonna name my kids so they have cute nicknames. hahah. i'm stupid.

anyways.. yesterday was family time.. my sister came back, so we picked her up.. oohed and aahed over pictures and her wedding dvd. which had the funniest soundtrack ever. it was so hilarious. and then we had vegtarian food and fried zucchini and carne asada burritos for dinner. yum! :) not quite as good as el cotixan's.. but it'll do for now. i suppose. i did get to play poker online pete and manny.. it was good times :) too bad i can't play that good in real life. :)

men's 50 free olympic trial prelims are tonight in long beach. gary hall jr. is swimming. love him... i wish i could be there - and he's swimming tuesday.. but i have freaking work. maybe i can ditch it.. hehehe. ack. long beach!! so close! yet so far away. okay.. enough of the stupid cliches.

okee dokes.. off to dinner now.. i hope it's not more vegetarian food. blech.

meat is good.

Saturday, July 10, 2004

and just when i thought i was going to get over my jet lag.

yahoo poker and baking cookies are the devil tonight :P

ack.

oh.. and while i'm here. happy birthday jimmy. :)

msn celebrity gossip is just too fun to read.

i especially like the last lines of the the britney article and the mary kate and ashley olsen articles. ahahha..

such a good laugh to start.. err.. continue the day.
i'm such a theif.. i'm stealing yet another thing off another blog. whatever.. jk. anyways.. nicole found her illustrious 4th of july drawing from our memorable holiday at our last ICON in indianapolis. it was a drawing of the "awesome" firework display at the minor league baseball game cki provided us with. yay for guys pushing lit up boats with shooting fireballs across the field. those were good times. see i tell you - nicole is good at re-enactments of all sorts. hahah

nicole rocks.

god i have jet lag so bad... i need to stop doing this. maybe i should just stay up all day today and then go to sleep at like 8pm. maybe that will set me straight. because i always stay up late and try to wake up early.. but you know that never happens... today i woke up at noon.. a pretty decent time.. then went back to sleep because i was so tired and slept until like 5pm. rad.

i did a little bit of resume and cover letter drafting today. my printer sucks butt though.. i gotta get back to work and to that laser printer.. haha. i also need to get back to going to the gym.. i'll get really good at going for like a few days in a row (probably like three.. hah) and then stop for a month. that sounds like a good way to spend $25 a month eh?

i have dinner @ red robin with benji and beth. it was a good time.. i like hanging out.. just feeling free :) although the conversation was sometimes a bit sketchy (haha) it was loads of fun. thanks friends! also thanks to nicole because i still have your dresses and wore one tonight and felt very pretty :) i think i'm going to hold it hostage forever. :P

Last Time Resentful: seeing my uber messy room.

Last Time Amused: nicole's re-enactments on ryan's balcony.
ack.. it's 4:32am. i moved my computer into my room so i will be on the internet all live long day... and night :P. so add my jet lag, plus the internet in my room, plus my tivo and tv watching.. bad bad news. oh well :P (for now).

just because i don't have to go to work just yet. i'm supposed to be driving to san diego tomorrow to take my mom to go do errands and visit her friends. you know what that means... california burritos and carne asada fries here i come! yumm... i drool just thinking about them :P

tonight i did work a little bit @ the hockey rink tonight. i kind of messed up.. my first night working in like a month or so and i didn't review the rule books. oops. plus.. lots of hectic fighting, penalties, injuries and stupid people trying to pretend to be other people.. aiya. oh well.. it all got handled :P

i am in tv bliss. big brother is back with season 5!! yay. yea.. it's hokey with all their "project DNA" crap and retardedness.. but i still love it. hahah. i always laugh at how stupid the people are.. and i'm always like "ew.. i could do so much better than that!" but really i'd probably be the first one voted off. (well hopefully not the first.. but whatever). i also watched the amazing race for the first time. i always heard it was good, but never watched it. i thought it was a cable show or something.. wasn't eli swanson on the first season or something? i bet that was hott. but it's good too.. and i sit there and think the same thing.. "oh i could do that! i know how to get to lax! i can drive aggressively on the freeways! i know spanish!" haha..except for that whole carrying 55lbs of beef slab. i'll have to find some strong guy. haha. and work out a whole lot before that too. :P but i'm glad that people who you wouldn't think would make it did.. nicole is rooting for the soccer moms. i like them.. i also like the military dad and his daughter. i'm torn about alison and donny. i HATED her on big brother.. but i dunno.. she's entertaining at the least. hahah.

OH! i've also been watching who wants to marry my dad 2. haah.. i never watched the first one.. was it always so much like meet my folks? but i'm especially invested in it because i worked as a "sequesterer" for a weekend and hosted one of the girls.. nicole. so i hoped she'd win!! except the dad said he had no chemistry with her at all.. how sad. i wonder why... and i wonder why the girls didn't boot her off. weird. maybe there's still a hope! i kind of think it's suzanne.. but it's too obvious! they wouldn't be so obvious would they?

oh reality tv is the devil. :P

Monday, July 05, 2004

so a belated happy 4th of july to everyone! yay! or as nicole would say "happy birthday america!" haha. i went to my parents' friend's bbq for a bit and then to beth & ryan's bbq @ ryan and jason's apartment. it was good times. a LOT of food, driving around getting lost trying to find culver city hs (nicole told us to go right although the directions clearly said left!), some good times laughing on the balcony with nicole, lighting sparklers with kim, nicole and beth (i was a sparkler virgin! not anymore!) and many games of bubble bobble... that game is intense! and playing super mario brothers 3. thanks to ryan i think i'm going to hook up my old japanese nintendo and play my heart out. :)

i also have been sleeping A LOT. it's really bad.. it's never taken me this long to get over jet lag because i've usually been more disciplined about it.. but now my bed time is usually around 5 or 6am.. (one morning it was 11am!!) and i'll sleep until anywhere from 3pm-6pm in the afternoon. ack.. i need to get over this jet lag quick! good thing i have a week :)

my jet lag does benefit me in the fact that i can do stuff at night without getting too sleepy.. haha.. stayed late @ ryan's last night, saw the notebook with sakura on saturday night. it was pretty good, sakura cried a lot.. haha. it was definitely cute.. aww.. i want a noah!! :P

i might head to san diego tomorrow because i'm playing chaffeur to my mom who wants to deliver these engagement cakes to her friends. yea.. when you daughter gets married in taiwan - you send cake to your friends. awesome :P but it's pretty and they're in gold boxes.. it's neat. my sister is the talk of the town, my mom tells all her friends, beth told all her friends.. haha. i brought the newspaper and magazine my sister was in and all the girls freaked out about it, while all the boys looked around at each other. and then looked at the prostitute on the cover of the chinese magazine. hahah.

today i went and returned stuff that i bought in preparation for my sister's wedding. i felt kind of bad returning hundreds of dollars of stuff to nordstrom's, but i just had decision anxiety when i was buying stuff, and really didn't wear any of it.. so hmm.. what to do. also, when i went to taiwan i took one 8.5 shoe and one 9 shoe (oc accident of course).. and wore them (for my sister's wedding.. i had no choice!) so i returned the 8.5 because the front part just KILLS my feet. they didn't look at the box.. so i felt kind of bad.. but what could i do?! but sakura was right, they do take anything back. haha.

anyhoo.. i'm probably off to go search for my nintendo. i might play some other games.. bubble bobble isn't really fun with only one player.. who wants to come over and play?! :)

Saturday, July 03, 2004

i'm back... :)

safe and sound, survived the typhoon, the turbulence and the plane flight. i don't think jet lag will be too awful (i hope) although it does feel too early to be 2am. i took 620 pictures (well.. the ones i didn't delete) and it's gonna take me 1.5 hours to upload them all :P but they're cool!

i have a week to play because i told my work that i wouldn't be back until next week. i'm such a slacker. but i'm supposed to use this week to start REALLY looking for a job. i have no more excuses. my mom kept trying to convince to me stay in taiwan and teach english. haha.. i told her i'd look for a job, and if i don't have one by octoboer (when it starts to cool off in taiwan) i'd maybe think about it. well i told her i'd go.. but i'll think about it :P

mm.. pretty tired.. should sleep so the jet lag doesn't hit me too hard. pictures to come soon :)

i saw some fireworks from the plane .. it was cool.

Friday, July 02, 2004

so it's 7:30pm-ish here in Taiwan and i'm gonna leave soon for my flight back to the US. yay? :P i'm excited, to get out of this heat, to have stuff to do.. to know what everyone else is saying! but it's sad that vacation is over :P my mom keeps telling me to move here to teach english, and that may be really exciting, or could get old really fast. it was interesting to just hang out with relatives, or with my sister's friends... neither of which i'm particularly super close to, so if it was me and big 'ol group of my friends i think it would be way fun. but i had a SUPER good time too.. and shopping is always fun, no matter who you're with :) but for the first few days i felt like i had been here forever... probably because we were doing so much stuff.. by the second or third day i thought a week had passed! but now i feel like i've only been here for three days!

sorry to sakura because i couldn't get you those hole punchy thingies, but i got lots of other cute stuff! and sorry to my boss (not that he reads this) for not being able to get him a magic mic. oops.

anyhoo... the typhoon is here or has passed.. the brunt of it never really came near taipei, so i'm safe.. but just lots and lots of raining.. all day.. sometimes hard, sometimes light.. but just lots and lots of wetness... and humidity.. blech. but at least it's not as bad as the sweltering heat and humidity.

last night i went to go see spiderman 2 (which i liked..except for all the cheese :P) and then went out for a bit @ this place called champagne. not too bad. and during the day my mom took me to more day market shopping stuff, and when i didn't think i could buy more bags, i did. hahah..plus lots of pens at the $19 NT store (yay) and cool other stuff.. it sounds like i've spent so much money and i sometimes feel like i have, but i've spent less than $300! and although that's a lot, for the amount of stuff i've bought, eaten, drank... it's not too bad :) i feel like a bandit :P

anyhoo.. so there will be no weather delays for my plane tonight.. i think. my mom's still packing and re-packing and sorting stuff out. i'll probably take a shower and change before getting on the plane. good times..

can't wait for 4th of july!! and to see you. :)

Wednesday, June 30, 2004

hi.. so i posted this audioblog after the wedding, but i hung up and didn't "press 1" afterwards, so it didn't get posted.. boo.. since then i was kind of turned off to audioblogging because i had just wasted $50 NT for nothing. boo.. BUT it is a good thing that i didn't because things are crazy in taiwan... and someone found my blog searching google for my sister's company. so.. i hope they didn't find other sorts of nasty things on my blog... hahah i'm being all super paranoid now.. i changed it so that blogger doesn't list my blog in their sites when i post, but i don't know if it makes it unsearchable. it may not be safe from google, seeing as how google bought blogger... so yea. is there anyone who can help me with that?

but yea.. so this is the background of that story. my sister had her wedding.. there was tons of paparazzi there because of her fiancee's family importance in taiwan. they camped out at the hotel where the wedding was @ midnight the day before! and also at the hotel where she was getting ready. and at her fiancee's house.. yea.. crazy. there was lots of camera people, funny paparazzi stories, lots of hiding in hotel rooms and being told "smile when the cameras are around" but all in all my sister's wedding was AWESOME. i'm afraid to say anything here for more fear and paranoia of it "getting into the wrong hands" and it sounds crazy... but better safe than sorry right? i have TONS of pictures and eventually some video and lots of stories and i can tell you all in person :) it was huge, very cool, a little bit of weeping in the morning (because my mom was a big teary mess), but at the actual wedding i didn't have any tears :) my sister did though.. she was a bit overwhelmed (in the good way). there was an awesome orchestra that played a medley of disney, and other lovey dovey, songs.. it was rad :) she walked down the aisle to pachebel's canon and a famous chinese singer sang at the wedding.. crazy huh? she also got a wedding gift from the president of taiwan. serious. plus there were paparazzi all over the place, one snuck into the wedding (tabloid paper) and then some more outside her suite the next morning. yikes. that's the most interesting part i guess...

cut and paste cuz i don't want to actually link it just in case they have the whole referral trackback thingy.. yea.. paranoia. crazy huh? the top picture, that's my family. on the freaking front page!! (while jackie chan was on the cover of the second section. she beat jackie chan! although she didn't get the presidential suite of the hotel because it was being used by gray davis. hah.) if you click on the picture there's an article, but most of you won't be able to understand it, i don't :P but yea.. i have the paper too if you want to see it in person. hah. although i shouldn't be promoting them - they're the ones that snuck in.. it's like i'm encouraging their unscrupulous actions.. but they're the only ones that i knew the name of that i could find online. i have like 6 different newspapers though.. it's madness :P crazy huh? these people were even staring at her in the food court of the shopping center. hah.

so other than wedding stuff, it's been pretty calm. i'm staying in the hotel and they give you breakfast tickets each morning for an awesome breakfast buffet :) it's got some american food, chinese food, and other random stuff, with lots of fruit and continental stuff. :) yum. we all get together for that each morning. the weather has been kind of tricky.. the typhoon is coming!! it was supposed to hit wednesday.. but it is getting bigger and slower... and may veer off course, but may hit friday. if it does, my flight plans are screwed because it's like twice the size of the entire island now. it's still sunny with lots of wind and fast paced clouds and random showers. i've done a LOT of shoppping at night markets, day markets and malls. (went to taipei 101, the new tallest bldg in taiwan.. where there's 4 levels of stores :) and eaten LOTS of yummy food, dumplings everywhere, beef noodle soup, shaved ice, boba.. you name it. taiwan has the best food :) haha and also went out drinking, not so much dancing, but just mostly lounge bars so far. but we went on monday and tuesday nights.. so not to much action going on anywhere.

briefly, this is how my trip has been so far:
WEDNESDAY- night arrive, stay @ grandma's

THURSDAY- hang out, eat dumplings and beef noodle soup, thursday check into hotel, have family dinner

FRIDAY- engagement luncheon, dumplings and beef noodle soup for dinner, curfew enforced - no fun tonight :P

SATURDAY- wedding rehearsal, lunch @ the hotel, go watch my sister try on dresses, rehearsal dinner, curfew

SUNDAY- WEDDING!! alll day with all the formalities and stuff.. although lunch at this cool japanese place

MONDAY- sun yat-sen memorial, taipei city hall, taipei 101, rest, eat @ famous dumpling place, shr-ling night market! (shaved ice, wallets and purses.. oh my!) drinking @ carnegie's afterwards

TUESDAY- get woken up by parent's phone call, breakfast, resting, shopping @ shih men ding market! whoo hoo! (more purses :P) another family dinner, clubbing @ the mint (the current hot spot of taiwan)

TODAY- change rooms, chillaxin' with the parentals, dumplings and beef noodle soup for dinner :)

tonight i'm at my grandma's again, although she left for new york with my aunt today. my dad is leaving tonight, so my mom is gettin' stuff ready and stressin' out (like always) hopefully i'll have some more fun in the next few days, and leave before the typhoon hits... although that would be kind of exciting to see.. probably scary though too :P thanks to all the people who left messages.. well the nice ones anyways :P i appreciate it and feel all sorts of special. but i should go.. help my mom or something, or nap. i'm tired. this heat is getting to me.

see you soon!!

ps. the "real" post time for me is Wednesday, June 30, 8:00pm. I'm in the future!!

hellooooooooooooooo from taiwan. not that it makes any difference where i post this because you're probably reading it in the same place, but anyways. HI.

i finally made it.. after all the stress and not sleeping. i'm surprised i didn't procrastinate more and post while i should have been packing. but i got on the plane, ate way too much food (two dinners & two cups of noodles) and at one point my feet were really swollen that they were tight in my flip flops. i got really scared that i thought i had gained 10 pounds in the course of a few hours, but my dad said it was due to leg immobility for too long, so my feet are normal size now.. it's all good :)

thanks to sakura for taking me to the airport! and to jill for bring me lunch... yay :) i actually had to sit on my luggage to get it zipped up.. and i thought packing for ICON was bad. hahah.. my parents picked me up (yay) and we rode the "free go bus" which is actually not free. it's like $30/person.. so if you come to taiwan don't be fooled. i guess they translate "free go" into "greyhound" or "flying dog".. so essentially it should be "flying dog" bus.. but i guess "free go" sounds better(and more like the chinese name "fai go". but anyways.. crashed at my grandma's house on the floor and today i get to go check into my hotel (for being in the bridal party). my cousin and a few groomsmen are there, and they went shopping in the street markets (shih men ding) sorry i suck at spelling chinese stuff.. you can fix it for me alice :P but anyways. i don't get to play with them, maybe later. there's a lot of "family" stuff to be done.. and i swear that planning this wedding seems so much harder than a regular american wedding.. there's people who have to open doors (car? i dunno) for the groom, but they have to be a cousin of the bride.. or something.. i dunno. so many traditions and superstitions! like the sister of the groom doesn't want to come to the engagement dinner because it's 'bad luck' or something .. i have no idea. but it's interesting.

it's also HUMID. ack.. i am sweating buckets. it's not as bad as i anticipated.. but it's typhoon season.. so it's like humid but warm and STICKY.. all at the same time.. i haven't spent too much time outdoors yet.. just walked from the bus station to my grandma's last night at like 11:30pm and it was SO warm.. not like nighttime in california at all. ugh. oh well.. it's a nice vacation. time to go eat with the fam.. take care! say hi to california for me :) kiss disneyland for me. :) miss you! (and have fun gay clubbing girls! :P)

so while i should either be sleeping or cleaning or taking out the trash or something.. i am sitting here listening to music, surfing the internet and now blogging. :) i don't really have anything exciting to say, but if i don't blog now i'll go on another whole month hiatus and that'll be a mess.

i have been really tired lately and i think it's because i screwed up my sleeping schedule after i stopped working.. or well.. i've put my body through worse :P friday my daddy left for taiwan. i was supposed to leave with him, but postponed my flight because i had to do some stuff for my sister. it's not too bad.. i have a few days of solitude and get to stay out of the 95 degree humidity of taiwan... ack!! so i took him to the aiport and had a quick late lunch/early dinner at the daily grill in the airport. it was alright.. i bet the one not in the airport is way better.. but whatever. then i drove up to my sister's office.. there was SO much traffic. more than usual.. sure.. maybe it was friday afternoon, but i swear there was way more traffic than i was used to seeing. it took me 50 minutes to get from LAX to ucla-ish area (south of ucla). it was madness. worked on digitizing a bunch of footage and finally left at 9:30pm or so. i have no idea how it got so late so fast. after that i just stayed home and chilled.. i thought i would hang out with friends, but they all ditched me so i just spent the night by myself. it's okay.. i had my tv :)

saturday was semi-productive. after waking up at a nice hour (12pm?) i hung out and one of my jason mraz crazy friends, jon, came over to upload the concert recordings he had. i was excited though because i really wanted to get the recording of the show before i left for taiwan so i could have it on my ipod, and now i do. yay! i also did some more shopping for more "nice clothes" and dresses for all the "special occasions" in taiwan. although i spent like $500 @ nordstrom, $400 @ nordstrom rack and some more money at other random stores.. and my mom had already bought me a few dresses from robinson's may.. i still felt like i needed to buy stuff. so i re-visited nordstrom, claire's (for more earrings for my sis), umm.. my flagship, the gap and some other places.. probably spent a few hundred more. we're going to be going on a lot of return-sprees after we get back. but yea.. i found some dresses that i liked so i think that i will be okay. now i have to find some more "nice" everyday clothes... i guess jeans and tshirts or whatever aren't good enough for my mom. but that also might be too hot anyways :P ack.. so much stuff to pack! along with my own stuff (clothes, shoes, dresses, accessories, bathroom stuff, hair stuff. etc etc etc) i have to pack stuff for my mom, sister and dad. this pack-rattyness so runs in the family. so it's kind of exciting .. but busy.. there's going to be a engagement lunch, then a family dinner, then rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.. then the wedding! crazy. in a week my sister will be married :P and i was originally going to arrive way earlier than everyone else (when i was going to leave with my dad) but now that i'm leaving later i'm arriving a few hours before my cousin and then we can just check into our hotel (instead of me sleeping on the floor at the relatives). which may be a little better. i also gotta edit my sister's wedding video possibly while i'm there... i hope it's okay :P gosh.. busy busy, but yet i don't "feel" anything yet. people keep asking me.. are you excited? but i dunno.. i always tend not to get too excited about things until right before they happen. :P anyhoo.. saturday night beth came over after dinner with her relatives and we headed out to the block to meet up with nicole at our favorite fun rip off game place, dave & busters. originally i thought jimmy, sakura and carol were going to come play, but it got late and everyone was tired so it was just us three nerds :) but it was way fun, we got our tokens and got our drinks. we arrived right before last call (who has last call at 12pm?!) so did a little bit of double fisting.. hahah and we ran around wild with our power cards whoring for tickets. not really whoring, just playing. we played a few random games, but mostly sat in front of the machines were you drop the tokens and try to get pushy thing to push the coins over the edge. sorry can't really explain it that well. but by the end of the night i had 1700 tickets.. (whoo hoo) and got all sorts of random crap that i don't need, including a 6 in 1 magnetic game set, a raver LED light beam ring, a pocket pen, a disc shooter gun and a coffee mug for beth. i didn't have enough points to get the golf ball and tees and the hideo nomo card and plaque. boo.. next time. or maybe i should save up for an xbox. hahah.. with the money you spend, you might as well just buy one :P afterwards we went to denny's and saw all the disneyland employees hang out there, but just ate and chatted and laughed a lot. i was crying at one point. drove beth and i home (half asleep) and finally crawled into bed and slept. yay. it was a lot of fun.. dave and busters is awesome. hahah and slightly better when you're inebriated. :P oh yea.. and beth got a cool paddleball toy that was tons of fun.. everyone kept taking it away from her.. including the drunk guys in the parking lot who wanted to show us "how to do it" but ending looking like idiots. hahah.. nice.

today i didn't some more interviews. i drove to LA and got really confused because i couldn't find this restaurant i was supposed to meet my sister's friends at. there was no big sign, so i passed it a few times before i realized where it was. but it's a really really cute restaurant called saketini tha one of the guys in better luck tomorrow actually owns. so it's cool.. it's very small and cute and quaint and apparently has great good :) i'm thinking we might go dine there sometime soon :) but you should go check it out! it looks awesome. so anyways.. went to the gym with sakura (i was supposed to go all week, but haven't been since last sunday.. oops) but yea.. had to work off that hamburger i had @ denny's the night before.. among other things. and was really really tired so i took a six hour nap :P i missed an awesome mraz show in san diego apparently.. sucks. oh well.. next time eh? i'll just have to wait until he plays @ java joe's or lestats or twiggs again. not that i hope it'll happen soon, or that his popularity with decline.. but someday he'll reach a point where maybe he doesn't need or want to play big places anymore.. and just return back to the coffee shops.. that would be awesome. hahah.. i can dream can't i?

tonight beth came over and she helped me pick out which clothes and shoes were best and tried a few on herself. it was just like playing dress up.. and we sat in our pretty clothes and looked at really old pictures from key club and band days.. it was strange. hahah. but a good time.

now that it is really really late.. i should probably go clean out my fridge and take out the trash. yuk. good thing i am sleeping in.

ack! i can't believe i'm leaving in less than 48 hours for my sister's wedding!

today is another sad day... my favorite "Bachelor" couple is no more jesse and jessica have broken up... and they were so cute. that's what law schools and football careers do to you. :P

this world is crazy.
so this post is for petes... well kinda

pete holiday is uber nerdy and it was his 1000th post. so he came up with this (pretty cool) idea to have 10 posts by him and his friends of 100 words to make 1000 words for his 1000th post. (awww.. reminds me of 1000 things by jason mraz). so anyways... i got to participate, either by default or whatever, but even if i was the "last kid to be picked for teams" i'm glad i still got to play. you can find the post here.. i really like bobby's and nicole's. but here were two more that i had written because i didn't know what exactly to write about. i figure i might as well post them here so my creative flow didn't go to waste.

option #1
So Pete has asked me to do the honors of actually posting on his infamous website. I feel like I am getting a key to the city or something; which is stupid, because it’s just Pete. Kidding. Sometimes Pete is one of the hardest people to read. One thing I hate is that when you fight with Pete, or when I fight with Pete, I always manage to feel stupid, no matter what. He brings out all this jargon where you just sit there and are unable to have any response. That means hire him as your lawyer come 2008.

option #3
At my new job, I was working and noticed a really good looking referee. This sparks my interest, but it’s even better when the girl training me asks, “Did you ever used to watch Good Morning Miss Bliss?” Being the TV whore that I am, I of course say yes. Then she tells me that the cute referee was the guy who played “Mikey Gonzalez” one of Zack Morris’ best friends. He was the pre-Slater. Now I find myself hoping he’s working when I am and stumbling all over myself when I ask him questions. I am such a geek.

so yea.. there you have it..

also.. check out my friend pete thurston's semi-latest musical movie review that he does for 91x in san diego. it's for harry potter 3 and REALLY funny.. i love it. pete is awesome. listen to it now!

so since nicole blogged about today, i feel like i should too. not that this is a contest, but more like a challenge, just kidding. i dunno.. i feel like wasting time and not going to sleep maybe? or maybe i'm just retarded.. yea i think that's it.. as proved many times over today.

so i am quite happy about going to the mraz show and all the other cool stuff i got to do today, but there was a big bird shitting on me today.. particularly the directions bird. so anyways.. let's start at the beginning.

i'm running late as usual trying to get all this stuff coordinated for stuff i need to do for my sister. but i leave my house a little late to go to the star lounge with jason mraz that i won. i decided to bring nicole as my "guest" seeing as how she has never seen him before "up close and personal", i'm a shitty friend and tried to pass this off as a "birthday present" and she's probably the one of the few persons that i could get to come out at 1pm on a wednesday afternoon. luckily beth had to work and she is responsible like that or else she would have hurt me for not being able to go. but i rushed and sped as much as i could, endured a little bit of traffic but would have been okay if i DIDN'T GET LOST. this wasn't completely my fault, because i looked directions up on yahoo maps and it said to take the alameda exit off the 134. well guess what.. there IS NO ALAMEDA EXIT. i had actually gotten lost this very same way once before, but didn't actually realize i wasn't in the right place until the 134 was merging to the 101 and i had nowhere to go. so i panicked called a few people and finally got nicole to get me to the right place (which i still managed to get lost going to the wrong lobby one door down... dumbass).

so we were a little late, but they let us in right in time. due to my finicky-ness instead of squeezing in the back corner we sat up front on the floor. good stuff. so i was in the star lounge which was less lounge and more square room. but whatevs.. it was interesting.. jason sang three songs (that's it?! i wanted more!) but i guess everyone had somewhere to go. we got split into two groups and took group photos with him that they will email us later. they told people to kneel on the floor so i went to go kneel and i was the only person, well other than jason. so i'm smiling like an idiot at the camera and i see a few people pointing and laughing and afterwards i realize maybe he was making faces at me or something and i was completely oblivious being a camera whore. oh well.. we'll see eventually right? they hand out pre-signed headshot to "the winners only" (sheisty!!) and shove us out the door.

so as we're leaving we "happen" (hah) to get on the elevator with jason mraz and a bunch of either radio people or friends of business people.. whatever.. me and nicole were the only "lowly fans" so i turn and say "hey can you sign something for my friend?" except i don't think that whole sentence came out because as soon as i said "can you" and "sign" the whole elevator full of "cool industry folks" started jeering and making fun of me about "we were just waiting for someone to ask" and in fact you could feel that awkward silence where they didn't want to "talk shop" in front of us.. so i said "nevermind" really fast, turned around all embarassed and tried to "play it off" and be like "well i wouldn't want to dissapoint you" and tried to pretend to be enamored in the guy who was like "i'll sign it for you" as nicole stood there and pretended that she didn't know me. i should have said something snappy like "just because everyone doesn't have the same "perks" and "opportunities" as you, you should laugh at them. do you laugh at retards too?" and told them to shut the hell up.. but i'm not that quick and was probably too worried about looking stupid to try and make people mad. plus enclosed spaces and not so nice comments aren't really my thing. so yea.. it was great. nicole couldn't wait to get off that elevator as it proceeded to stop on every floor. i'm cool...

anyways.. nicole and i had lunch @ acapulco full of non-diet friendly food including fried ice cream for nicole and chocolate dessert for me (chili's is still the best). and we parted ways. nicole went shopping in glendale (we realized the last time she was there was when she broke her arm right before dcon 2002) hahah.. who cut up your meat again? anyways.... i went to my sister's office in LA to try to get some stuff done. i left at not too bad of a time to get to the concert 6:45pm - to get from west LA to downtown by 7:30. so i'm leaving, get on the 405 south towards the 10. for some reason .. either i can't read or listen.. i feel like i read and heard that i was supposed to get on the 10 towards santa monica. ALL of my common sense in me knows which direction i'm supposed to head.. but i head towards santa monica... well from west LA that's west and THE WRONG DIRECTION. i am amazed at how clear the traffic is and how the suckers on the other side are stuck until i hit malibu and the beach and realize.. i am in the wrong fuckin place... AGAIN. great. so i finally figure out where to turn around and yup.. now i'm the sucker stuck in traffic. in fact it took me 30 minutes to get back to where i had started off in the first place, where the 405 and the 10 meet. great.

so i plod along, get to the hall getting a little lost, but nothing too big. and finally make it in to the hall to see beth, maritza, norma, benji and nicole all waiting for my sorry ass. anyways.. i got to the bathroom because i drank way too much water while sitting in traffic and let them sort out who's sitting where (since i had 4 tickets in one section and 2 tickets (that i won from the radio) in another.) benji and norma decide to go on a "date" in the other section since they weren't huge mraz fans and didn't really care that the 2 tickets were further away. so everything seems to be fine until we walk in and oh guess what! the tickets that the radio station gave me were for the next night's concert although they had told me they were for the same night. or did i just assume? or is it that whole not listening thing. i didn't see any other the other radio station winners lurking around confused .. so hey.. it must JUST BE ME. argh. we tried to exchange the tickets, but no can do since they were free.. so i just ended up buying two more tickets to replace the wrong date ones. this was so not my night. norma and benji were nice enough to give me more money than we had originally agreed on for the "free tickets" (thanks guys!!) so it worked out okay.. except, now i feel bad for making them go to a concert and pay more than they wanted to, and i have two tickets for a thursday night concert and no one to go to it. hmm.. who's wants to go? i wish i could find someone who hasn't seen him before or won't be seeing him.. but whatever.. it's not a big deal. i kind of want to go, but i feel like i should stay home for once this week and hang out with my dad before he leaves and get stuff done before i leave. ack. i also don't want to be too "mrazed out" like seeing him three times in two days may be too much, although probably not because he is so amazing. BUT.. i also associate my cruddy day of humiliation, retardedness, getting lost, rushing, feeling stupid, traffic, stress, wanting to cry etc etc etc with today's events and concert, so that also makes me not want to go. i don't know.. i'm retarded.

afterwards we went to mel's diner in h-wood.. i didn't get lost (i was following nicole) and we just sat and talked and ate. it was fun. they all started planning their next outing "the movie in the cemetary" ew.. no thanks.

i may sound like i hated today, and for some parts i did... i started to get really down and super stressed out.. and when i was lost out in malibu i really just wanted to stay there and lie in the sand and smell the overcast on the beach.. but i had everyone's tickets :P but i did enjoy the concert and hanging out with good company.. they make me laugh. so it was good and mraz is so talented so that makes you forget about stuff for a few hours. it does suck that as he becomes bigger and bigger tickets are more expensive and seats are further away.. but what can you do. i had a good time tonight.. thanks everyone for the fun :) it was all because of you. (haha.. that's not a mraz song.. but still a great one!)

jeanyah: ahhaha.. everyone in the office is talking about the game tonight
Vizilla: Nervous times.
jeanyah: do you think they'll win tonight?
Vizilla: The team needs a real miracle.
jeanyah: yea it does.
Vizilla: Don't know. My gut feeling is no.
Vizilla: If they win the series though, maybe I'll start going to church again
jeanyah: hahahahaha
jeanyah: nice.
Vizilla: there you go. God, if you're looking at this IM window, that's our deal.

cross your fingers... lakers baby.
so i'm BORED at work... but this is a different kind of bored. since i'm going to taiwan they brought in temps to replace me... so i spent the last couple of days training them, and now they are working and i am "supervising" hahaha. making sure they don't have any issues/questions. so i'm just sitting around. but on the bright side.. today is my last day.. yaaaay!! so i thought i'd spend my time somewhat usefully.. i hope :P

sunday i went to san diego with sakura.. YAY!! i love san diego. we had it planned FOREVER that we were going to go and eat california burritos and carne asada fries.. (atkins what?) oops.. oh well. so anyways... sakura drove down as i studied my hockey rulebook since i had work later that night - my first game by myself. yikes! and we got to san diego in a pretty good timely manner. we went to el cotixan's first (after passing the new walmart off the 52) and got a california burrito and a side of rice. YUM!!! man.. i've missed it.. i think it's been a year since i've had one.. scary huh?! we thoroughly enjoyed it.. and maybe depriving myself of carbs made it taste all that much better, but it was EXCELLENT. then we went to UTC and shopped and i tried to find stuff for my sister, and we passed by this new "chocolate cafe" store.. it was very exciting.. haha.. they had a candy bar that was like one pound of chocolate for $22! that better be some good chocolate.

we got to hailes graduation but we noticed ALL the new buildings that they built. in the past year. it was madness. there was a whole bunch of new buildings by warren and revelle too. all grad research buildings. wow. also, roosevelt was done! it's SO big.. there's SO many dorms and it's HUGE. but it's very nice. it almost makes it worth it going to ERC. hahaha. but it looks very nice, but marshall is still the best :)

we went to hailes' graduation and we thought we'd have to wait until the end to hear him and carli graduate, but they went in reverse alphabetical order (by major) this year! tricky tricky. but then of course hailes and carli wanted to sit through all the majors to graduate (they're theatre and urban studies.. argh) but it was okay. we sat around and tanned ourselves. at one point sakura asked if i had her phone and she looked in her purse 5 times and i kept calling her phone to see if i could hear it and we searched all over the field.. but no phone. so sakura lost her phone, but then she called it so that she check her voicemail and i heard some beeping and i was like hmm.. i wonder if one of these people stole her phone. and then she held her purse up to her ear and heard her phone ringing!!! WHAT A DORK! i snatched it out of her hands and she dared me to find her phone because she looked all over and couldn't find it. i found it inside one of the zippered pouches. what a nerd. :P it was very funny, but you probably had to be there for it to be funny.. i guess i'm not a very good story teller.

FINALLY the graduation was over with and we took lots of pictures. we weren't able to meet up with carli because she left right away because her family had dinner reservations. sad. but we took a lot of pictures with hailes and we weren't able to have dinner with him either because i had to come back for work. boo me. but we didn't head back before going to roberto's for carne asada fries. yuuuummmm. it was SO good as well. i ate in the car and fed sakura as she drove and it was the two best meals we've had in awhile. hahaha. i got home, went straight to work and messed up a lot in the first game with all the penalties.. ack.. i felt really stupid. but hopefully it'll get better.

yesterday i was supposed to do a bunch of stuff... but i ended up just sleeping instead. i was falling asleep at work, so when i got home i went straight to bed. i slept until 10:30pm when my dad told me to take out my contacts and brush my teeth. and in my sleeping stupor i lied and told him i already did.. but for some reason i thought i really already had brushed my teeth. but i got up because i had to do some stuff for my sister. then when i finally went back to sleep at like 3 or 4am i had some CRAZY dreams. one where i was in the bathroom and it was clogged, so i lifted the back part and there was chunks of stuff floating (ewww) but then all these tropical fish came out of the drain and starting eating it. and then a snake also came out and the slithered over to the sink and went down that drain.. but it wasn't a real snake, but looked like the "cable snake" that's in those commercials on tv. and at one point i heard this loud buzzing sound and it got louder and louder and i felt trapped like i couldn't move my head.. and finally i turned my head to the other side, but then the buzzing returned and i couldn't move at all and i felt like i was being electrocuted or something. i actually thought i was going to die.. it was very very strange.

but after today i won't have to wake up early anymore so maybe that will get rid of the strange dreams. or maybe it was the large influx of carbohydrates in my system after awhile. i was going into shock. or maybe it was real... how scary.

Sunday, June 13, 2004

so i was at the gym and i saw a bag of bread sitting by the emergency exit. so as sakura was leaving i told her "i think you should take this moldy bag of bread with you." then this old lady who i always see at the gym who despite always being at the gym seems kind of fit, but still hunchbacked and too tanned skin, tells me "that's not moldy honey, it's fresh, very fresh."

oops.. it looked like it had blue bits to me. why would you leave an open bag of bread in the sweaty stench of the gym?! ick.

i saw mean girls tonight with jimmy and sakura at the $3 theater. yay cheap theater! it was pretty good and pretty funny... tina fey is cool. :) i do have to admit that lindsay lohan is pretty cute.. i think my favorite line was

"halloween is the one time where girls can dress like sluts and other girls can't say anything"

it's funny because it's so true.

now my "mean girls on board" sticker on my car has meaning. do people who drive behind me think that i'm 16 years old? or maybe i really am just a "mean girl" :P

Saturday, June 12, 2004

so i am pretty freaking estatic today :) i had a long long day yesterday and have been planning some stuff for my sister's wedding so today i had to get up early to go interview one of her friends for a video that my sister wants to show at her reception. i set my radio alarm to star 98.7 because i got a newsletter saying to listen to win the chance to go to the star lounge with JASON MRAZ. :)

so if you're smart you know where this is going, but i'll gush on anyways :) so lying in my bed i listen to the radio and they say to be caller 20 as they play curbside prophet. i'm dialing on my house phone and my cell phone (a little cheating.. whatever.. other people were doing it too). and finally the phone starts ringing and the guy answers:

the guy (Jason): "hello"
me: uhh.. hi.. d-do you have a winner yet?
Jason: nope.. you're it
me: SHUT UP!!

he puts me on hold and i hear the radio on the phone and he announces on the radio "we still need a winner, keep calling" and then he comes back as goes "don't worry, you're the winner, they just want people to keep calling." how mean :P haah.. so i get to go to the star lounge which will be AWESOME and then i also got 2 tickets to the concert @ the walt disney hall, sweet. BUT i already have my tickets for that show.. dang it! and i don't know whether the tickets are going to be way good or way bad.. it's always a toss up. but i am suuuuper duper excited about the star lounge. plus while chit chatting with the dj guy we somehow got on the topic of jobs and he said he needed a producer and that they were hiring for programming, as well as promotions. so he told me to apply and use him as a reference. :) not that it's concrete, but it's definitely an exciting possibility. YAY. my heart was beating so fast at first, and i told the guy.. and he said "that's a nice little cliche, but boring." hahah.. thaaanks. after i hung up i screamed, jumped up and down and did a little dance :) i hadn't been this excited since i won tickets to rock 'n' jock and got to see my middle school love dean cain. :)

BUT who cares.. star lounge with jason mraz is gonna be amazing.. maybe like a very trendy java joe's hahaha (minus all the cool ass sd people). but complete with leopard print couches and "cool furniture" in a 100 square foot room. i'm going to be smiling like an idiot the whole time :)

"hey, hey, something's different in my world today
well they changed my traffic signs
to a brighter yellow" :)
so i am lame or retarded or both. last night i only got one hour of sleep, but yet here i am typing away at 1:30 in the morning. what's wrong with me! i was taking care of some more wedding stuff for my sister and yada yada yada. my mom left for taiwan today after a hectic day of packing and calling me to come home right away because she locked herself out and what not.. she was STRESSED. we didn't leave the house until like 4:05ish or so and her flight was at 5:30. which is not so so bad because we live uber close to LAX, but it was an international flight, and security sucks up time like no other. but i think now that my mom is off she will start feeling better.. hopefully.

so needless to say i took off of work early to accompany my mom to the airport. i didn't have to because my dad was around, but it was good that i did because i helped out my mom some and she stressed out so easily and my dad brings it out in her. but i felt kind of bad because monday i took off early, but came in early tuesday to make up for it, and then thursday i came in late cuz i overslept and then today i showed up early, but left early as well. so monday i'll have to go in early to make up for that. but i guess my boss is cool with it. he's one of those mild mannered guys, so you can never really tell if he really cares or not. and since i've heard everyone in that office talk about everyone else, it makes me wonder. but i try to be cute and nice and bring in chocolate and bribe them into liking me. :P but i was SO ready to get out of there anyways. it was a hellish day, maybe because i only had 1 hr of sleep, but apparently the second temp showed up today (which i wasn't expecting and my manager forgot to tell me) so i had to run back and forth trying to train both temps at the same time. they both seemed really confused at some points so i started typing out these stupid-easy directions so that they could hopefully have too many crisises while i am gone (FOR THREE AND A HALF WEEKS) yayyers :) it was okay, but it was really draining. it's hard to write out really detailed instructions, it reminded me of all those CADA (leadership) conferences i went to in middle school. funny. but yea, i was still a little frustrated with the slowness of one temp, and then the other temp comes and she's even slower! it's interesting that there are some people who just aren't that handy with computers. it was really hard training her at first because i just felt like i had to explain things that were so simple, 5 times over. good thing i learned a lot of patience doing inner city games. towards the end of the day she got a bit quicker, so that makes me happy. the other guy i will still have to work with on monday.. but i didn't really spend all that much time really traning him, but he tries my patience sometimes as well. :P ack.. i need to stop being a brat. but it was weird to work with these people and have it be so hard to try and teach them things, when i picked up on things very quickly. and people are amazed that i've graduated college already and that i'm such a fast typist (thanks to AIM! :) ) so it makes me thankful for the opportunties i've had and that my parents have provided me with. but it also makes me wonder why i am in the same lump category as these people. ack.. i'll get a "real" job soon.. i swear. but one good thing is that when both temps were here today i felt this huge sense of freeness and was really excited :) and i got to work on one of the new laptops that was being worked on for a client. it was sexy.. i wanted to take it home with me. but we'll see how monday and tuesday go.. hopefully it'll be okay. the bad part of today was that the guy who sits next to me brought out this bag of the new guacamole doritos that i have this huge craving for thanks to nicole and her grad after party :P.. but they have such a great smell i just wanted to grab the whole bag from him and eat it all.

of course i couldn't have any because of my "diet". but you will be dissapointed in me because i broke it and cheated anyways. my dad gave me three strawberries (and they were SO good) i had a chicken burrito. sorry no-carb god. i just couldn't do it.. food wasn't tasting good anymore and there's only so much meat i can handle! (strange concept, and i never thought i'd ever say that.. but it's true). oh well, i might go back on the plan.. in general i've been eating a lot less just either because i've been busy, or got sick of all the eggs/cheese/meat dealio.. like i missed dinner the two previous nights and before my cheating.. today i only had half a hot dog (uncooked :P) and a cup of sugar free jello. oh and lots of water. yea.. that's healthy :P so who knows. i was already planning on cheating sunday anyways with sakura and my el cotixan's/roberto's feast.. so i was just gearing myself up for it so i don't blow up or get sick. i hope. gotta utilize that bally's membership! if only i had a time turner like hermione. ;P that would rock :)

tonight i watched a few hours of tivo and then my dad went to go see supersize me. the film of "epic proportions" about the guy who eats mc donald's for 30 days, 3 meals a day to see it's effects as he delves into the fact that america is the fattest nation. (if you check out their website, they have this really cool ass game that i would (of course) play at work.. but it's rad. it's "burgerman" so it's like pacman, but it's the guy eating burgers and the clowns are the ghosts.. it's fun!) it was interesting.. i basically already knew everything that happened from people talking @ sundance and whatever else my sister told me. it has some really interesting parts and other times i seemed to get really bored, i wonder if it was just me...and there are a few other issures, but it was overall good - you should check it out. but it made me really want a big mac or chicken mcnuggets. mmmmmmmm. for dinner we were going to get chicken lettuce wraps from pf changs for my no-carb dinner, but there was no time, which is how i arrived at the baja fresh next to the theatre. but it was yummerific so no complaints here.. until i can't find in my bridesmaid dress anymore. ack!! tonight was fun.. i got in a huge fight with my dad on wednesday .. so i was edgy yesterday, but my dad gets over/forgets things very quickly, so it was better today. i feel bad because he goes to bed pretty early since he wakes up so early and i work late a lot or sleep in on weekends and so i feel like i haven't really seen him much. i'm glad we got to hang out because we never really do anymore. :) i'm a total daddy's girl.

holy hell it is 2am.. i was gonna go to bed like an hour ago. my time management sucks. i gotta get up and do some video interviews in a few hours. peace out!

PHEW... so i spent a lot of time that i was going to spend blogging redoing my template for my blogger because carlene's pretty uglies site is down so she told me to find a temporary new one. so at least i don't feel like a traitor for trying out the new blogger templates. and now it is 2am and i was supposed to be in bed like 5 hours ago. damn the internet. but since i've already done the damage, why not continue. i just feel that by the end of this week i will be deathly sick because of all the sleep deprivation. and i have no time for being sick because i actually do have to go to work (for a change) to train people in my absence. (gosh i sound so important.. but really.. i'm not). so anyways...

wow... i totally suck at updating lately. sorry dudes. i thought i was doing good with all the mini posts, but they're all about nothing.. so yea. hmph. wow.. i can't believe that it's june 9 already!!! yikes! i thought june 27 was sooo far away.. but my sister is getting married in a two or so weeks! CRAZY. it's been a little crazy, not too much.. but still a little :P doing a few things for my sister's wedding, calling places, dress/shoes/jewelry stuff. she called tonight and asked me to do a whole bunch more things.. which isn't bad, and i'm really happy to help, but i just gotta find the time to do it all! the girl i used to work with at my temp job i probably TOTALLY took for granted because this new guy came, and he's okay (not the really nice hot guy that i was hoping to fall in love with and get married to, but that's okay.. jk). he seems really nice and like a good worker but he is SLOW. he tries (or maybe he doesn't .. i don't sit anywhere near him) but he isn't the best data entry-er. i sometimes end up having to do a lot of his work, and i don't know if it's the change in hours that is screwing me up or his slowness or what... but i am doing way more than i used to and it sucks. i feel like a brat because i should be complaining about "working" because that's what i should be doing.. but i feel like somehow i'm getting the short end of the stick. i dunno.

been doing a lot of the hockey scorekeeping training lately, and not so much of the gap, although i did have to work a 6am shift and then work again on memorial day.. so that kind of sucked. but yea. scorekeeping is pretty cool.. it's a lot like what i did for water polo and ICA, but more by yourself (you do stats and clock by your lonesome) and less regulated because it's recreation.. so you get a lot of angry yelling and cussing.. which i don't enjoy, but hopefully it's something i get used to, or immune to.. like that awful sweaty stench. i have one more training session on the ice on thursday and then sunday i work my very first own shift. i'm a little nervous. i get really antsy because like with everything new i always feel like i'm doing something wrong or forgetting something when everything is really okay. we shall see. oh my! it gets a little daunting with all the rules and when the games get scrappy with lots of penalties and yada yada yada.. but hopefully i'll manage. yikes. but i do like the people a lot. the girl who hired me is super nice and is a lot like me (but older) and she likes me because she can relate to my asian-ness. hahah. plus she's from indiana! and her middle name is jean. how cool is that... we're meant to be friends. hahah. and everyone's pretty super nice, a few oddballs, but you get them everywhere. i went to this going away party for the guy who trained me.. and i wasn't sure if i should show up or not.. like was it a pity/courtesy invite? or if i didn't go would that be rude? i ended up going (cuz i had nothing better to do, of course) and when i walked it i knew like two people and everyone else stared at me like i was stupid in the wrong house. after that initial ice breaking, things were okay. i just sat around and people watched.. but apparently i earned brownie points for showing up.. which is good, plus free food! (well not exactly free i brought food :P) but whatever.

a few tuesdays ago i drove up to ucla with beth to go watch NAPOLEON DYNAMITE at this place @ UCLA (melnitz) that shows free movies - mostly (or all.. i dunno) of the indie persuasion. it was good times because a)that movie is SO funny.. i cried a few times b)it was free AND they gave out free tshirts and c)i had great company with ryan, beth & emily. :) i HIGHLY suggest ALL OF YOU go watch it.. it comes out June 11 (friday!) but there may be a few more free screenings you can go watch and get free junk and be part of the cool kid club. or try and find it at the theatre near you come friday. and if you really are the bandwagoney type.. hilary duff's sister, haylie is in it :P go see it dude. and if you're nice maybe i'll send you a "vote for pedro" button that i got @ sundance. :) go see the movie, you'll totally get it and then you'll want one.

that weekend was memorial day weekend... yay 2 day weekend! it was jam-packed. saturday everyone met up at "the big sam woo" in la puente and had the big 'ol 7/10/12 course meal (we lost count) full of lots of yummy food and some (well one) food that wasn't so desirable. i bet my parents would have like them though... yay for sea cucumbers. but it was a LOT of food and so yummy and the BEST cake ever. it's like chocolate mousse, with cake and then cheesecake on top and i think white chocolate shaving on the outside...mmmmm..... nicole.. for my birthday just buy me that cake :) after stuffing ourselves we rolled ourselves over to nicole's house for an "after party" full of leftovers, more food and fruit and plenty of alcohol. nicole opened her gifts and then proceeded on to karaoke on the magic mic. i had to leave early because i had work @ 6am and i heard i missed the best part! they showed a video of nicole's 18th(?) birthday party... or something with nicole and her friends doing synchronized dancing. damn the gap. :P but CONGRATS to nicole!! :)

the next day (or a few hours later) i worked a full day at the gap doing men's new flow.. i got to do section one, redoing the shelves and doing visuals and building the "closet" (the clothes that hang for display on the walls). it was pretty cool and everyone was telling me that it looked really good so i was very proud of myself. yes i sound like a dork, but it's harder than you think. i came home and napped for two hours before sakura, carol and i carpooled up to ryan & jason's apartment for ryan & beth's BBBQ. :) it was lots and lots of fun too.. more food as well, and i brought drinks :) i tried to play bartender, but not very successfully. but it was fun while it lasted. we ate lots, played a variety of games, chit chatted, made fun of each other .. and towards the end as the crowd dwindled down the real party people stayed for a few hours of texas hold 'em. it wasn't too bad and i did a LOT better than last time. i wasn't the first to go out (and i never did).. i owe the success to my teammates ryan billings and nicole, and yahoo poker. there were two really big hands that we won, one was a flush on the river. jason got really mad because he bet a lot of money and i called it... betting a lot of my money on chance.. when i wasn't supposed to win the last card came through. everyone cheered.. i felt like a hero. i think i bet because nicole was saying "do it! do it!" although she had no idea what the cards were.. but hey.. good job nicole! i think the second time i had some sort of straight nicole told me to go for it again and it worked. nice. i won something like $6 or so.. which is not bad at all considering i think i lost like $10 or $20 last time. :P finally dragged my sorry ass home at 4am (thanks for the ride billings!) and slept almost all of memorial day away.. until they called me to go help them close the gap. blech.. i can't believe i said yes.. i'm such a sucker.

next big adventure was HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN. yaaaay. i am a harry potthead. :) ryan, beth, benji & i drove out to chino (aka the wrong side of the tracks :P) jk.. to watch the movie with nicole, carlene, sonny and her mom. :) we had this whole deal where nicole bought the tickets early so that we'd be guaranteed a ticket, but it wasn't even sold out! i guess people in chino just aren't cool enough for harry potter :P for dinner we met up at the new stand alone chick-fil-a as ryan drooled all the way there :) it had a play area that had weird noises when you stepped on a certain part of the ground and cool cow patterned cars. there was pictures of giant chick-fil-a sandwiches on the wall and i had beth stand next to it and pose like she was trying to take a bite out of it. beth is so cool and posed so well and i was laughing so hard i couldn't even take the picture. and when nicole looked at the picture we all laughed really hard, and i'm chuckling just thinking about it now. it's awesome. nicole, beth and i wore our gryffindor scarves (well beth and i finished them while waiting for the movie to start) and played a very unethusiastic round of harry potter uno. the movie started and it was good.. a lot different than the other two.. and beth and i spend forever hours on end talking about the differences from the book (while ryan plugs his ears). when malfoy first appears on screen his new "look" cuaron gave him makes him look like aaron carter. i could not help laughing everytime he came on screen and nicole and i kept waiting for him to bust out a song and dance. :) our group was very giggly and kept snickering at lots of jokes and innuendos and who knows what else. but it was awesome... harry potter rocks. i promptly re-read the book this past weekend. oh how geeky i am.

not much else ... been working some, the countdown is on to my sister's wedding.. crazyness. she just asked me to do a whole bunch more things so i might be leaving later than i had planned.. subject to flight availability. but it's pretty crazy.. i feel like this wedding is going to be so big and extravagant, and then we're also trying to plan the LA reception too. it's cool that it's in taiwan though because a lot more relatives will be able to go and a lot of the US relatives are flying back.. so my grandma's really happy that a lot of the family will be around. we got the invitations for my sister's wedding and they're so fancy! apparently her fiancee's dad is some important person in taiwan, and i actually saw his dad on the chinese news as well as his sister, and they said that he looks happy because his only son is getting married at the end of june. on the freaking chinese news!! crrrrAzy. my mom's all paranoid because she thinks there will be papparazzi or something and she's telling to start starving myself :P (not like i'm already not).. but yea. and i found out there's going to be a stylist for the wedding.. a STYLIST?! yea. i feel like my sister is trista (of bachelorette fame) and i'm her ugly sister who was sitting on the beach all lonely while her bachelorette friends jumped up and down in the water in their cute bikinis. hahah. so yea.. i hope my sister isn't the pretty pretty princess and i'm the ugly wicked stepsister with warts and bad breath. well i hope she's a pretty princess.. just not the latter :P i still gotta decide on which shoes, find some "appropriate/mother approved" dresses & clothes to wear and start/finish stuff that my sister wanted me to do for her wedding. ack! my mom is leaving tomorrow so she was pushing me a lot to go shopping for the "right" clothes. you would think that it'd be a dream for my mom to offer to buy clothes for me but for some reason i dreaded it so. we bought a bunch of stuff, but nothing quite right and now she's leaving, so... i guess i'll just have to surprise her :P. i was supposed to leave on the 18th, but now with all the added stuff i might leave on the 20th or 22nd. which may be kind of sucky because i've never flown to taiwan by myself. i hope i don't get detained in customs or lost in the airport or anything! we shall see. it is madness though.. but i am off of work starting next wednesday. WHEEE!!! i am very excited and counting down the days.. yea... sure my work isn't a "real" job.. but maybe that's what makes it so unbearable.. that it's so mundane and monotonous. i wonder how that place will fare without me since the other guy is pretty new too. oh well. :P i gotta train those foos tomorrow. after i get back i need to be on the ball with the job hunt. the other temp guy (who started after me) has left and gotten a real job too.. i'm the only loser left. the chick who i work with at healthsouth is into the "industry" as well, so she always tells me about stuff and maybe can help me out. she has "friends".. i hope something pans out. everything happens for a reason right?

time for some promotional plugs.
check out the new asian reality show.. Quest USA. it's kind of like road rule vs. real world challenge, but it's all chinese ppl and team usa vs. team china vs. team hong kong. i think i watched the first episode, and it was alright.. they had a relay race and got a bunch of free clothes and shoes. not too shabby. it's interesting though. :) they get to go to cool places, and probably get lots of cool stuff. it's funny though because i saw this awhile ago and was thinking about applying.. but watching it i realize i'm not quite fobby enough and my mandarin probably wasn't that great... but it could have been fun.. or i could have been rejected.

also pete and manny have resurrected their love child unofficial cki. either they're stupid or brave, or not scared of lawyers, or don't care or had lots of time on their hands. jk... they probably just got fed up with more bs and decided to wreak some more havoc...it's almost like a std, lays dormant for awhile, the flames back up when you least expect it. check out their kick ass handy work.. pete and manny rock.

also a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to nicole. she turned the big 2-4 on tuesday.. and while i meant to finish this blog by then.. it just didn't quite happen. nicole celebrated her birthday with the lakers.. they won just for her :)

man.. i really need to get back in the habit of updating more regularly. i know when i go to taiwan it'll all fall to pieces again. one last thing.. tonight i was SOOOOOO close to driving the zamboni... for the longest time i have wanted to drive one because it just seems so neat. last year when we played broomball @ UTC (awww.. my last cki event as president :P.. awww.. san diego!) and my friend brandon who worked there was doing it, i thought, "hey it can't be too hard." so i was joking around with the guy today after the last game and i asked how hard it was to drive the zamboni and if you had to know how to drive stick cuz i saw lots of levers and pedals and junk. but he said no.. all i needed was to know how to drive and have a license! he was gonna let me do it but he had to get the other one from the back so it would take too long. damn! now i gotta find a way to show up when he's working so i can do it.. haha. i don't know why, but it's a very strange obsession. i got really excited it was pathetic. but i had my little moment of glory for .5 nanoseconds. it will happen someday.. hopefully i don't crash into the walls.
