friday started out a normal day.. lagging at work, being excited it was friday. i was entertaining ideas of going down to san diego (SORRY philly that i didn't make it down) :( it was a little too much of a trip for that weekend. i was talking to my aim@work buddy linh and she was telling me how she was going to this club V20 in long beach, and how it was a promo for this movie called "LADJ the Movie"
This was funny to me because a few weeks i had read about this somewhere and told nicole i wanted to go because i thought that's where they were going to screen this movie starring and created by thomas ian nicholas (of american pie and rookie of the year fame) and his brother tim scarne. we nixed the idea because it was trance and house and we weren't really into that. but lucky for me linh is. :) and because she just wanted to be on the guest list, but got entered into this contest and because the 5 people before her didn't answer their cells she won! whoo hoo... pretty sweet huh? so she won this zvue - mp3, video and photo player thing - which was neat.. i played with it a little, and then a limo ride for her and 5 of her friends to a private screening of the movie and then back to the club for a fun night of partaying.
the club, the dancers, the bathroom, the lights
so it sounds really posh, and it was exciting.. but we got to the club and waited for everything and everyone to get ready. finally we got into the limo - which was stocked with drinks. whoo hoo! that was the first time i'd ever been in a limo. it was nice, still pretty hard to make drink in the moving car.. i thought i'd be smoother.. haha. but i discovered that adding lime to vodka and coke makes it way tasty. it's like candy! :P anyhow.. we drove literally down the street, it was cute, tim scarne (who wrote the movie) came out with a video camera trying to capture our "entrance" but he came late so we piled back into the limo, drove out of the drop off area, then back again and made another entrance. yay for staged entrances.. hahah. we went up to the room where they had the screen and projector set up and yet more drinks. hahah.. the lushes in us were happy. either i didn't eat enough dinner or i hadn't drinken in a long time, but halfway through the second drink i was getting pretty toasty... lucky for me i was just sitting and watching the movie. the movie was pretty good, fun, lots of subtle jokes that i liked a lot. linh liked it a lot for the "talent" in it - cameos from big time dj's - but that was all lost on me. sorry.. :P it was a little cheesy.. but i like cheese.. so i dunno.. it was enjoyable, and really funny at certain parts, but not something that i immediately liked. but i can't write worth a damn, so props to anyone who can. but i did like it, i just think it could be better.. yah know? but i was really excited to see it, that's one of the main reasons i went. so, after the movie we rushed back to V20 because tim was spinning so we felt all special with our fluorescent wristbands and "sexy" wrist stamps. heck yea.
us in the limo, linh's "pocket", linh is the new "LADJ the movie" girl, me and linh
the club is nice and pretty. there was a LONG line for people to get into the hiphop room... and it didn't seem to be moving. but the music outside was good so it's chill. i had another drink and then a shot and i was pretty done for the night. it's not the most i've ever drank, but that's definitely the drunkest i've ever been :P i usually am pretty conscious and remember everything... but...umm.. friday.. there were parts were i was like "whoa.. how did that happen" nothing more than G rated mind you.. like i was waiting in the bathroom for linh.. and i sat down on this chair and waited. and at some point i was like "damn she's taking a long time" so i yelled around the bathroom for her and she wasn't there... so i went outside and there she was asking me "where the hell were you?" haha.. uhh.. i must have looked pretty dumb in the bathroom.. i wonder how long i just sat there. and then another time i was taking pictures of dj tim on stage and after i was done i walked back to the "vip area" :P and he was standing there already. i was like "whoa.. i was just taking pictures of you, and you were on stage.. how did you beat me back here?" he just laughed.. that was probably like 20 minutes before that.. hahah.. wow.. i bet i looked dumb. sorry.
me and tim scarne and me and thomas ian nicholas, creators, writer and director and stars of LADJ the Movie they're awesome!!
anyhow.. the rest of the night was fun.. just dancing, talking, drinking, chillaxing :) at some point the LADJ stickers were passed out.. and tagged on people. linh got many a sticker on her bootay and when the guys put it on i remember her "he fucking touched my ass man!!" hahaha. and btw.. linh is a party animal. she is skinny as hell but drinks a whooole lot. she's all like "you need to party with us!" but now i'm scared. hahaha scared that i am too lame for her :P anyhow.. it was cool to hang out, to have a good time, and to be a "vip". :P i think it's a really good way to promote the movie, sure maybe people are just coming for the party, but hopefully they take home something about the movie as well. afterwards we drove home safe and sound.. and i went to bed. in the morning i felt a little queasy.. but i went back to sleep and it was gone when i woke up again. thank goodness.. i hate that feeling.
saturday i went with benji and my cousin shopping at the gap for friends and family. benji, who is color blind, tried to argue with me some about how some of the colors of the shirt were the "same".. but in the end he learned to trust me, and my friends at the gap (aka the girl who works there that he thought was cute). it was time consuming, but fun.. it's like playing with dolls again. hahah. that night beth and i were supposed to go over to benji's to eat dinner that he was cooking... i think we ended up cooking most of it. hahah. so much for that.. but it's cool.. i just took over because i was starving. or else i would have just been happy waiting watching big brother 5 and armageddon :) afterwards we drove out to burbank for his hockey team's broomball fundraiser. let me tell you, they know how to do fundraising, because they charged $20/person. and sure i griped and complained - but i still paid it. they only had like 15 people show and still made $100. hah.. dang it. oh well. the sucky part was that is less people you have more ice to cover... which isn't bad except when you're running at high speed and then eat it. yea, that was me. i had a breakaway so i started running, oops, when i tried to slow down my feet weren't having any of that and kept going so i flew up in the air, landed on my back, hit my elbows and my head whipped back and hit the ice. OUCH. i had that ringing sensation in my head for a little bit, but then i went back to playing. memories of lssp and the waffles flashed through my head. haha.. my elbows are sore and bruised and i have a big bump on my head, plus my neck is really stiff and sore, but i don't think i have a concussion, so that's good. afterwards we went to the kettle to eat... drunk people watching is pretty fun :)
sunday i worked and then went out to dinner at black angus for my cousin's 21st birthday.. yay! although since you can drink in taiwan when you are 18, 21 to him wasn't a big deal. we had the coupons for 2 filet mignon dinners for $35... but good lord is that a lot of food!! i gave more than half of my food to my dad and i still had to be rolled out of there. i seriously couldn't even sit up by the end of the meal. ugh.
monday i had lunch with linh and had CARNE ASADA FRIES... yum!! i was really excited to find a place around here that had them.. and they're not as good as Roberto's.. but pretty decent. so yay for that. afterwork i went up to my sister's to edit a video for the wedding and got to see her new house/condo. it's so nice!! hardwood floors, a laundry room, giant jacuzzi tubs and awesome walk in closets. loves it... i want to house sit for her. hhaha. i spent all night editing, and i was productive, so that's good. i felt kind of bad because i had dragged my cousin with me, so he just read magazines and watched dvd's... which is basically what he does at our house.. so i guess it's not too bad. i did more than i had planned which is good in the grand scheme of things, but sucky for that night because i stayed until 3:30am! yikes. i still made it to work today too.. sakura was proud of me.. hehe. good stuff. i had lunch with her today @ busy bee in pedro. the BEST sandwich place ever. YUM. tonight was work, novice playoffs and a pickup junior kings game. it's so weird how good those kids are.. haha.. it was almost like real life mighty ducks! (the movie) but seriously, it's insane how into sports some kids and parents are... not insane actually.. but kind of cool. i always wanted to be "really into something" and my parents weren't really the supportive type, unless it was being really into cleaning the house. my mom actually grounded me and my sister from going to the library because we would stay up too late reading. sorry.. my bad :P it's nice to have parents that totally support what you want to do. but everyone does have their own ways of doing things.
anyhow.. my sister's wedding reception is this weekend!! yay. but it's still busy. everything is still kind of last minute.. still have to finish one video, and then start and finish the other one, figure out flowers & centerpieces, seating arrangements, decorations and who knows what else. but it's fun!! i live for this kind of stuff!! i applied to a few places for jobs, quite a few actually... no phone calls yet :( that's depressing.
i just drank some old milk.. i hope i'm alright :P i have a pretty strong stomach .. i should be okay.. but here's this for you enjoyment anyways...
TooMuchPete: Was it chunky?
jeanyah: mm.. no
jeanyah: but it was low fat.. so i couldn't really tell
TooMuchPete: ?
jeanyah: low fat milk is pretty thick
jeanyah: it could have had mini chunks :P
TooMuchPete: Low-fat milk is thick?
jeanyah: compared to non-fat milk
jeanyah: yea
TooMuchPete: *sigh*
TooMuchPete: Silly hippy chick.
TooMuchPete: "Low fat" milk is not THICK.
TooMuchPete: It's thicker than WATER
TooMuchPete: But shit... damn near everything is.
jeanyah: blame my parents
jeanyah: well.. my dad
TooMuchPete: There are no "mini chunks"
jeanyah: like.. drinking low fat milk is like eating ice cream to me
jeanyah: it's so creamy
jeanyah: it's like a treat!
TooMuchPete: Try whole milk.
jeanyah: oh man
jeanyah: i might choke
jeanyah: do people actually drink that?
jeanyah: i thought it was just used for baking
TooMuchPete: Ok, I'm going to bed now. By the time I wake up in the morning, how about you just make sure that you've introduced yourself to the rest of the world outside of your little SoCal bubble, mmkay? :-)
oops sorry... that's the first time i've been called a hippy though. :P
have a great day!!
