why am i so tired? because i spent forever last week doing stuff for my sister's wedding reception. it was way fun though. last week i was barely home though.. and the mess in my room grew and grew... it's pretty insane.. i really need to clean. who knows what's growing under all of my clothes.. ack! i cleaned it a little, but it just came back with a vengeance. monday i went to my sisters, tuesday i worked, wednesday was "sick" from work... went to help my sister buy flowers and spent a lot of time editing. yikes.. i think i stayed until 2 or 3 in the morning. thursday - work and that night my cousin (and her new baby!), aunt and grandma came in, so we all met at cheesecake factory in marina del rey for dinner. it was good times, although there was some arguing earlier in the night and i flung my passenger door open in anger and a passing car hit it. boo.. i don't know who's fault it was.. but our car is okay and it scraped and dented the side front part of the guy's rental car. hmm.. it was just a bad bad day.
friday i had an interview.. it was okay.. seemed really vague and it was a job i wasn't really interested in.. so who knows. it's an interesting story though because i have weird ties to the company, so i've been hearing things about how i don't necessarily want to be there anyways. afterwards i went to walmart in cerritos. i guess walmart is okay, not necessarily worth a drive out to cerritos just to go there. it was handy though and i picked up a lot of things i needed for the wedding :) i think they're building one around torrance somewhere.. and last time i went back to sd they built one right by my old apartment. so if it was there earlier.. i might have fallen in love with walmart like beth did.. but i'm still a target girl :P although those two stores are pretty different. ate lunch at home, went to my sister's after having lunch with my cousin, edited the wedding video and watched my sister and jeff-gu stress over the seating chart. nicole came over later - after enduring horrid traffic - and then we went to go buy some flowers and supplies and we came back and got to work. nicole is PRO. she whips up flowers so fast.. arranging, taping, de-leaving..
she's AWESOME. she made boutineres and the centerpiece for the sweetheart's table and made my sister's bouquet. amazing i tell you.. amazing! we took a break (which i was hoping to only be an hour.. but lasted two or three) and went to ryan's birthday celebration at the wood ranch bbq @ the grove.
it was pretty yummy (a little pricey) but good, and the company was great, and we even got to watch opening ceremonies there. yay! our waiter was really really funny -
ryan: is there a way i could get some of those onion strings on top of my steak?
waiter: if you had saved some you could have
afterwards me and nicole came back and i put her back to the slave labor :P she got done around 1am and went home and i stayed until like 6am and went home to nap. i was supposed to come back on saturday at like 9am, but didn't make it until 10:30am or so. drove up to my sisters, bought two cases of flowers from trader joe's and finished up editing the video. i made two versions of the second video because i didn't really like it much and wasn't sure which one was less sucky - and was kind of too tired to make something really spectacular (sorry joan).. so i let my sister decide and then tightened some other stuff. in the end we went with the "jessica simpson" version.. haha.. which was okay because i really like that song.. as did my sister.. and so does sakura. we were giggling that night when it came on and nicole goes "is this mandy moore?" in disgust. haha.. funny beacuse i almost put mandy moore in there too :P i called sakura to go pick up some stuff for me to save some time because i was already running really behind.. THANKS SAKURA and finally drove back home to pick up my stuff that i needed and drove back to LA with sakura, my cousins and to pick up beth for more of the slave labor.
we headed over to the skirball and unloaded the flowers, baskets, buckets, lanterns, candles and various other tools from the cars. started placing the centerpieces on the tables, cutting the flowers, hanging the poster pictures... it sounds so easy as i type it out, but there was a lot of work that goes into it. i think the hardest part was cutting and arranging the flowers... THANKS TO BETH AND SAKURA for doing it... you guys are the best too. and they did it so well and i knew i wouldn't have to worry about anything :) i just felt bad because i hadn't really helped them much.. so i hope they didn't mind. they did an awesome job... my sister thought it was going to look all ghetto compared to the taiwan wedding, but it was still really nice :) i finally went to go get ready in these rooms they have underneath the main area... the rooms were really nice too, couches, bathrooms, showers... i could have stayed there for awhile. haha. beth, nicole and sakura helped me do my hair too.. sorry i was so fussy. haha.. but in the end it was nice. and then they went to go decorate the cake too.. so pretty!!! sucks though that we missed out on cocktail and appetizers :( i hope everyone else enjoyed it though!
the bridal party took pictures and we all got introduced.. it was funny having the dj call out our names as we walked in.. i felt like i should wave or something... it was strange :P like a basketball game or something. then we started eating and sakura, nicole, beth and i snuck over to the photobooth because it was empty (cuz everyone was eating) and we took a bunch of pictures (round 1), they showed the first video - which everyone seemed to enjoy.. so i'm glad :) dinner was yummy, they showed the other video, which people clapped again for. i thought it seemed a little short.. but i wasn't really sure what else i could put in without making certain parts too long or too boring, but my sister thought it was good, so that's what matters right?
we had yummy dessert :), got our obligated drink from the open bar and then went on to dance and have rounds 2 and 3 and the photo booth :) until it broke :( sadness... i swear it wasn't us :P we cleaned up and afterwards i went to denny's with the girls. we wanted to hang out - but once we got there i think we all realized we weren't that hungry and were really tired. hahaha, but it was still fun :) thanks girls.. i'm SO happy that you came and i had a REALLY good time because of you. it wasn't just me and my relatives and my sister's friends. and THANKS so much for all your help... you girls are the greatest!! :)
sunday morning i woke up early (despite my work being pushed back) to have breakfast with relatives, then work all afternoon, and then i came back and had dinner with my relatives again at this japanese restaurant in rolling hills called "iccho." it's pretty good.. check it out :) here's a random picture from work that i thought was cute:
monday i took my cousin to a dodgers game because he really likes baseball and i'm lucky that i have friends who also like baseball - or will just come to hang out :) sampled some of the food in the park, found out where the good hot dogs are (too late though :P) and ran around the park a little bit. me and sakura didn't get to go shopping, but she already got me a penny last time she went, so i was okay with that. i wasn't okay with the dodgers losing (boo) but what can i do. i think my cousin had a good time, so that's good. i hope it made up for the whole month he sat at home bored during the daytime. i got out of the parking lot pretty fast (5 minutes) and i got home just as beth was leaving the park.. haha.. mad skillz.
tuesday i worked and wednesday i slept. tonight i have work and friday is jason mraz... hell yes. pretty eventful huh? i think me and nicole are also going to hit up california adventures before they close "who wants to be a millionaire" sad huh? :( i'm definitely going to miss it, they needed to shows after 5pm. but yea.. disneyland and then mraz in SD. i'm SO excited.. it'll be mraz, bushwalla, and tristan ... almost like old times - but no philly :( but it's going to be GOOD. i may have an extra ticket.. anyone want to make the drive down with me? you won't regret it.
